Professional Education and Training
After graduating from Podiatry school in England, I worked for the Calderdale Healthcare Trust for nine years. I treated mainly the elderly, but also children, special needs patients, rheumatoid arthritis patients, and tried to heal ulcers to prevent amputation. I practiced in a variety of locations: clinics, home visits, and hospitals. I initially moved to Indiana in 1998 for a three year job transfer. I moved to Illinois in 2001 and raised my children. I returned to college and graduated in 2012 as a Dental Hygienist. I also continue to work at the YMCA. I have now worked on both ends of the body and find oral health interesting. I enjoy the variety of people I meet and particularly try to make appointments with children stress free. As my dental care was very limited as a child, I want children to receive excellent dental care and education to keep their own teeth. Prevention is the key. There truly is nothing as good as the original tooth.
I am from the beautiful countryside in the North West of England. Having come from a country where dental hygiene was not available when growing up, I recognize the importance of education for dental health and the need to retain healthy teeth for a lifetime.
I have two children, both living in the United States. My son is a senior at Iowa State University and my daughter is a senior at Waubonsie Valley High School. Some of my hobbies are cooking, gardening, cross stitching, watching detective novels and watching BBC dramas. I would love to be able to travel more!
